Kamineni Hospital’s Awareness Drive on Mental Health for Medical Students
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, Kamineni Hospital, LB Nagar, organised an awareness session focused on the mental well-being of medical students. The session, held under the guidance of Dr. Gayatri Kamineni, COO, highlighted the increasing levels of stress and depression among students pursuing medical education.
Experts emphasised the need for empathy, open communication and regular emotional check-ins from parents and peers to help students navigate academic and social pressures. Senior Psychiatrist Dr. Gautami Nagabhirava discussed the emotional strain that follows the transition from school to medical college, while Dr. Kankipati Varudhini, Co-founder of Inner Connect, underlined the importance of early counselling and family support.
The initiative aimed to encourage future doctors to prioritise their mental health and remind everyone that even caregivers need care. Over 100 students and parents participated, making it an insightful and compassionate session dedicated to “Protecting Our Future Doctors.”
