Fever Season in Hyderabad: Kamineni Doctors Advise Caution

Hyderabad, August 26, 2025: Seasonal fevers are on the rise across the city as rains followed by dry weather create conditions for viral outbreaks. Doctors at Kamineni Hospitals have reported a surge in dengue, influenza, and chikungunya cases.

Dr. M. Swami, Head of General Medicine, noted that dengue symptoms this year are appearing differently. Instead of the usual body pains and platelet drop, patients are first experiencing diarrhea, followed by fever and later platelet decline. At least five new influenza cases are being reported weekly at Kamineni Hospital, while chikungunya is also spreading quickly. He added that stagnant rainwater, changing weather, and worsening air pollution are further aggravating the situation, particularly for people with chronic lung diseases.

Senior Consultant Physician Dr. Harikishan advised flu vaccinations, use of air filters, avoiding crowded places, and drinking boiled and cooled water stored in glass or steel bottles. Freshly cooked meals at home and mask use outdoors were also strongly recommended.

Dr. Srikrishna Raghavendra and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Patel cautioned against self-medication. They emphasized that early medical consultation and timely blood tests are essential since dengue, influenza, and chikungunya require different treatments.
