Celebrating World Heart Day 2023 at Kamineni Hospitals – Vijayawada

On International COPD Day, Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar, welcomed Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu along with their team of pulmonologists to talk about COPD, a serious lung condition. Most cases are linked to long-term smoking or heavy exposure to pollution, and while it’s largely preventable, once the damage is done, it’s hard to reverse.

Doctors shared that COPD often shows up after 60, but the impact of habits from earlier decades can catch up later. Even quitting smoking years ago doesn’t completely erase the risks. Smoke from traditional stoves or prolonged exposure to polluted air can also contribute.

The team highlighted how a simple Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) can catch problems early, before symptoms get serious. Quitting smoking, reducing exposure to pollutants, and staying up to date with vaccines for pneumonia and influenza can make a big difference. The takeaway is clear: small steps today can help protect your lungs and make life easier in the years to come.
