Handling the Rare with Care: A High-Risk Pregnancy Managed Successfully at Kamineni Hospitals

Some pregnancies need more than routine care. They need constant attention, careful planning and a team that stays prepared for the unexpected.

At Kamineni Hospitals, doctors recently managed one such rare case under M’brace, Kamineni Hospitals’ dedicated unit of Mother Care, Child Care & Fertility. A 27-year-old woman diagnosed with Von Willebrand Disease Type 3, a rare genetic bleeding disorder, was closely monitored throughout her pregnancy.
She had first visited the hospital years ago with excessive bleeding and was treated at the time. During her first pregnancy, she returned at five months and continued under regular supervision. As her condition progressed, it became more complex due to central placenta previa, increasing the risk of severe bleeding.

While a planned Caesarean section was considered, sudden complications required an emergency procedure. With a multidisciplinary team working together and the right medical support including transfusions and specialised medication, doctors ensured a safe delivery.

A healthy baby boy was born, and both mother and child recovered well.

Cases like these highlight how timely care, expert coordination and close monitoring can make even the rarest situations manageable.
