I was just like any other student planning to prepare for IIT-JEE and other competitive exams. However, I wasn’t exactly like other students of my age; my path was not free from obstacles. I had faced issues with walking, squatting and sitting cross-legged for most of my life. But my condition had just started worsening.
Our family physician, who had seen me grow up, advised us to visit Kamineni Hospitals, where Dr. Roshan Jaiswal, a senior member of the Orthopaedics team, would review my case.
I was diagnosed with Perthes disease – something the doctors said was rarely seen in boys of my age. They concluded that I needed a customised surgical dislocation of the hip. It was performed after taking the consent of my parents, and the surgery was a success.
Thanks to the team at Kamineni Hospitals, I underwent rehabilitation for 6 weeks after surgery and am able to walk normally without support now. My preparations are now going in full swing and I hope to crack the exams with good results!
